Nowruz also referred to as the Persian New Year, (pronounced no-rooz).
It is a combination of two Persian words, 'now' means new and 'ruz' means day - together they mean 'New Day'.
The beginning of the New Year occurs when the season changes from winter to spring on the 'vernal equinox', the northern hemisphere.
