Hùng Kings Commemoration Day is a Vietnamese public holiday celebrated annually on the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Vietnamese calendar.

The government established it as an official holiday in 2007.

The Hùng kings are ancient Vietnamese rulers who are believed to have ruled the country during the Hồng Bàng period (from 2879 BC to 258 BC).

They were political and religious leaders of unified ancient Vietnam and are considered the traditional founders of the Vietnamese nation.

The Hùng kings are honored during the The Hùng Kings' Temple Festival held annually from the 8th to the 11th days of the 3rd lunar month.

The main festivities take place at Hùng Temple in the village of Cổ Tích.

The festival began as a local holiday, but in 2007 its third day was recognized as a public holiday.

The third day of the festival is considered the most important.

It is referred to as Death Anniversary of the Hùng Kings.

Despite the name, the date does not mark any specific death anniversary of any of the Hùng Kings.

The holiday is celebrated with a procession that starts at the foot of Nghĩa Lĩnh mountain.

On their way, pilgrims stop at every small temple before finally reaching Hùng Temple on top of the mountain.
